Small screen packed with plentiful Spring Festival programs

Local TV channels will be airing plenty of special holiday programming during the upcoming Spring Festival.

In addition to various gala programs featuring entertainment and sports stars, Shanghai Media Group will present new shows featuring heart-warming grassroots tales.

The News Channel will air a light-hearted reality show about Chinese food culture. Stars will learn to cook and then have dinner with ordinary families. From January 26 to 30, a five-episode documentary series will look at the lives and careers of local policemen.

Docu TV will offer a batch of documentary productions including "Grand Shanghai," "Salt For Life," "New China in Color" and "A Bite of Shunde." These will chronicle the country's development and people's changing lifestyles.

Toonmax TV will air a special New Year series about children's development. Olympic champion diver Wu Minxia and dancer Huang Doudou will be invited on the program, sharing their own experiences of growth.

Drama Movie Channel will air classic movies, including "Don't Look Now ... We're Being Shot At," "Kung Fu Hustle" and "Flirting Scholar."

Recent films such as "Wild Goose Lake," "Knives Out" and "Gone With the Light" will also be shown on BesTV.
