The Information Office of Shanghai Municipality held a press conference today (September 5), during which Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization Rong Zhiqin introduced relevant information of the 20th China International Industry Fair, while Deputy Researcher at the Department of Equipment Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Wang Jianyu introduced the summit of international cooperation in China’s manufacturing sector during China’s 40-year reform and opening-up, and President of Donghao Lansheng Group Cao Wei was also at presence to take questions from journalists.

Jointly organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, the 20th China International Industry Fair (CIIF) will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from September 19 to 23. This year marks the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up, which is also the 20th anniversary of CIIF. The 40-year reform and opening up has accelerated the leap forward growth of China’s manufacturing industry, while the 20-year CIIF witnessed the growth process of China’s manufacturing industry. The CIIF has become an exhibition brand of global influence as it is, on one hand, an important platform that plays a key role for China’s modern manufacturing to showcase, communicate and cooperate with the external world to promote indigenous innovation and industrial upgrading. On the other hand, CIIF is an important window for enterprises, both home and abroad, to carry out economic and technological cooperation and communication, to accelerate partnership in technology, products and services.
Major highlights:
1. A focus on the showcase of new breakthroughs in the integration of the manufacturing sector and the Internet. The 20-year history of CIIF has witnessed the great achievement of China’s manufacturing sector. This year’s CIIF will exhibit a batch of new achievements in the integration of the manufacturing sector and the Internet, which help the sector move toward a higher end. Among them, the special exhibition of “China’s model infrastructure project for the manufacturing sector”, “High-end computer numerical control (CNC) machine and basic equipment technology” and “model projects for smart manufacturing” will display the breakthroughs in CNC system, key components, key technology and smart manufacturing.
2. A focus on the presentation of the new layout of the industrial chain in the Yangtze River Delta Region. To implement the strategy of integrating growth in the Yangtze River Delta Region, promote the construction of regional industrial chain and accelerate the nurturing of a world-class industrial clout for the modern manufacturing, the year’s CIIF will take the exhibition of robots as a channel to showcase the strength of the region in the development of the robot sector, while encourage industrial ally to optimize the layout of the industrial chain. Meanwhile, the session of “green industrial park” will promote green manufacturing with real cases for the construction of a green supply chain.
3. A focus on the display of new achievement in a technology-led development. The session of “science and technology system” will exhibit practical application of smart cities under the theme of “building up an innovative city led by science and technology. The session of “colleges” will showcase indigenous technological innovation to present their capabilities in innovation and starting new businesses with coordinated growth of study, research and commercialization. The session of “Chinese Academy of Sciences” will set up three major exhibition areas of core projects, innovative products and industrial technology to present the theme of “a new era earmarked by scientific and technological innovation”.
4. Try to lead the new trends of industrial transformation and development globally. CIIF follows the new trends of IoT (the Internet of Things), big data and AI (artificial intelligence) and demonstrate latest research results and digital, networked and intelligent service products. Inspur Group, which debuts in CIIF this year, will showcase typical industrial applications with cloud and big data technologies. Qinchuan Group will display core products including robot joint reducer and “gear process equipment industry chain”, which features leading technologies domestically and can replace imported products.

With themes of “Innovation, Intelligence, Green”, CIIF will improve scale and specialty for the exhibition, in the direction of “Profession, Market-Oriente and Brand”.
About Exhibition:
CIIF sets up eight professional exhibition areas for CNC machine tools and metal processing, industrial automation, robotics, new energy and electrician, information and communication technology applications (Industrial Internet), energy-saving and environmental protection technologies and equipment, new energy and intelligent network vehicles and technological innovation. It has totally 12 exhibition halls with an exhibition scale of 280,000 square meters, with 2,631 exhibitors from 27 countries and regions, including the United States, Germany, France and the Czech Republic. According to the exhibition space, Shanghai exhibitors accounts for 22%, other domestic exhibitors account for 48% while overseas companies account for 30%. The exhibition space of other domestic exhibitors hits a new record. At present, there are more than 35,000 pre-registered viewers, with expected 170,000 totally during the CIIF.
About Awards:
CIIF sets up 1-2 special honor awards, 4 gold awards, 14 silver awards, 4 innovation gold awards, 14 innovation silver awards and 4 industrial design gold awards. At present, a total of 363 exhibits for awards have been accepted, with 154 exhibits in Shanghai, accounting for 42%, 158 exhibits from other domestic provinces and municipalities, accounting for 44% and 51 exhibits overseas, accounting for 14%. The award ceremony will be held at the opening ceremony on the morning of September 19. As the only exhibition category award approved by the State Council, this year's CIIF award process further enriches expert database, optimizes the process, improvs the network and information level of the awards and increases publicity and branding of exhibitors. It is expected that the proportion of awards from domestic provinces and cities and overseas enterprises will increase significantly this year.
About Forum:
CIIF forums are divided into four sections: forums held jointly by the Ministry and Shanghai; the Development Forum; the Science and Technology Forum and the Enterprise Forum. A total of 42 special events are arranged. Three spotlight events are “International Forum on Manufacturing International Cooperation for the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up”; the “2018 World Intelligent Car Network Conference” and the “Innovation and Emerging Industries Development”, which is jointly held by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Shanghai Municipal Government, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

On September 19th, the “International Forum on International Cooperation of Manufacturing Industry on the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening up” will be held in the Shanghai Hall of the Shanghai International Convention Center from 15:00 to 18:30.
With the theme of “deepening cooperation, opening up and win-win collaboration”, the forum will be focused on China's contribution in the manufacturing sector to boost the global economy in the past 40 years of reform and opening up, and will reflect the development opportunities provided by China's manufacturing open cooperation to the global market.
It will also be reviewing foreign investment in China and the roadmap of win-win cooperation by multinational companies. It will also call on stakeholders from all industry sectors and fields from home and abroad to continue to deepen open cooperation of manufacturing and continue to promote the inclusive growth of the global economy.
Officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the leaders of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government will attend the summit forum and make keynote speeches. At the same time, foreign companies such as Dassault Aviation, SAP, Philips, and Mitsubishi Electric were invited to give special reports. Company executives from Tesla, Xugong, Lenovo, Xi'An Shaangu Power Co. Ltd, Tebian Electric Apparatus, Changhong Electric and Li Ning will alslo participate in the dialogue sessions.
In addition, during the summit forum, the "Best Practices Collection of China’s Manufacturing Industry International Cooperation" will be released, and The 2018 China International Industry Fair will also be used as a platform to showcase the cooperation of China's manufacturing industry with "openness, tolerance, mutual benefit and win-win".

For two consecutive years from 2016 to 2017, the China Academy of Engineering and the Shanghai Municipal Government and the relevant departments have held two sessions of the International Conference on Innovation and Emerging Industry Development during the China International Industrial Fair in Shanghai, which attracted wide attention and industry-wide appraisal from home and abroad.
On the basis of the success of the previous two sessions, on September 19-20 this year, the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government will join the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Commerce, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization will hold the "2018 International Conference on Innovation and Emerging Industries Development" in Shanghai.
It will be aiming to gather world-renowned entrepreneurs and experts, and to encourage open dialogue and exchange of ideas in a number of topics including disruptive emerging industries, development guidelines, directions and policies. It seeks to promote global technological innovations and development of emerging industries.
The conference would include a keynote presentation on the afternoon of September 19th and seven parallel sessions on September 20th, including topics such as new generation of information technology and industry, biology and life sciences technology and industry, high-end equipment technology and industry, new materials technology and industry, green and low-carbon technology and industry, digital creative technology industry, innovation design.
The conference will be live-streamed through the official website of the conference, the official WeChat account and the live broadcast platform of the Chinese Academy of Engineering academic conference, and will introduce the artificial intelligence-enhanced broadcast and translation function by iFlytek. It’s also a reflection of the adoption of smart technology for the China International Industrial Fair and it’s also a key event during the China International Industry Fair.
Up to now, IEID conference has already invited eight guests from home and abroad to give keynote speeches at the conference, including four foreign experts: Prof. K.Barry Sharpless, a Nobel laureate in Chemistry, Prof. Raj Reddy, a Turing Award winner, Prof. John Loughhead, the chief advisor of British Ministry of Commerce, Energy and Industry Strategy as well as Prof. Dandielle BALÉRIAUX, the president of Royal School of Medicine of Belgium; four domestic experts: Wang Zhigang, minister of Ministry of Science and Technology, Zhou Ji, the academician and former president of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhao Yuerang, general manager of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd. as well as Liu Qingfeng, chairman of IFLYTEC CO., Ltd.. The seven branch sessions has already invited 72 guests, among them including 46 foreign guests and 26 domestic guests, who are all academicians, experts or celebrated entrepreneurs at home and abroad. The organization of inviting business and exhibitors as well as highlight exhibits:
Metalworking and CNC Machine Tool Show located in 1H, 2H, 3H and NH will mainly show a variety of high-end metal cutting machine tools, metal forming machine tools as well as key functional components such as CNC system, power devices and driving devices as well as cutting tools. The 2018 Metalworking and CNC Machine Tool Show will expand half a hall than that of last year, covering an exhibition area of more than 70,000 square meters. Metalworking and CNC Machine Tool Show of the CIIF has always been at the forefront especially in the field of “laser-working technology and sheet metal forming”. Foreign enterprises such as TRUMPF, AMADA, Bystronic, Salvagnini as well as Mazak and more than 300 domestic enterprises such as Han’s Laser, HGTECH, CHUTIAN, YANGLI will offer plate metal, tube metal and bar metal profiles processing solutions. Japanese enterprises Mazak will show its 3D laser pipe cutting machine, representing the highest level worldwide. It won the most important award in the field of machinery industrial design, the equivalent of Academy Awards in the machinery industrial design field, which can realize completely automatic and intelligent production throughout the processing.
The 2018 Industrial Automation Show located in 5.1H, 6.1H and 6.2H is one of the professional shows that display the core technology and the leading products in intelligent manufacturing. The 2018 Industrial Automation Show will expand for the first time, taking up 6.2H as well except for the original 5.1H and 6.1H. Industry giants such as Siemens, Mitsubishi Electric, Bosch and Phoenix Contact all enlarged their exhibition scale, well-known enterprises such as Panasonic, Evoc, Inovance, Hopewind, SIPAI, Festo and Rittal will launch some new products and unveil some new techniques at the exhibition, enabling visitors to experience application scenarios of future factories and smart production at the exhibition.
The 2018 Energy Saving and Environmental Protection Technology and Equipment Show and the 2018 New Energy and Power and Electrical Engineering show are located in 4.1H. The Energy Saving and Environmental Protection Technology and Equipment Show focuses on themes such as green manufacturing, circular development and low-carbon development, including three thematic exhibition areas: industrial energy saving, industrial energy cleaning and green industrial parks. The other half of the 4.1H is for the 2018 New Energy and Power and Electrical Engineering show, focusing on the latest technologies and breakthroughs in energy production, supplying, transporting, energy integration, storage and interconnection. Leading enterprises such as Shanghai Electric, China Delixi, SPEM as well as Goldwind will provide green and efficient solutions for the energy and power industry. The 4.1H is the most “green, environmental-friendly and energy saving” exhibition hall at the 2018 CIIF.
The 2018 China International Industry Fair will set up an exhibition area in Hall 1 for new-energy passenger cars, intelligent and connected vehicles as well as supporting facilities this year. The 2018 China International Industry Fair will gather a number of new-energy vehicle brands. Among the automakers, there are international and joint venture brands including BMW, Volvo, Dongfeng Nissan and GAC Mitsubishi. There are also domestic carmakers including Geely, Beijing Automobile Industry Holding Co and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. There are also Shanghai-based automakers which represent Shanghai Manufacturing, including NIO, WM Motor Technology Co. During the industry fair, these carmakers will display electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid new energy vehicles and the latest intelligent and connected concept vehicles. The industry fair also set up a place for audience to place orders to buy a car and enjoy the subsidies for new-energy vehicles.
The robot exhibition will be located in Hall 7.1 and 8.1. The robot exhibition area will exceed 50,000 square meters which becomes one of the largest and most influential robot exhibitions in Asia and around the world. The exhibition consists of four major exhibition areas including robot body, system integration application, service robot and core components. According to incomplete statistics up to now, there will be more than 60 new products for world premiere and China and 58 robot companies will make their debut during the exhibition. In addition to the four major international robot families: ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa and Kuka, some of the leading brands in the robot segment will bring new products, such as: Staubli will display the world's first full-closed on-site TS2 SCARA series of four-axis robots which can meet the most demanding human-machine collaboration scenarios. From the new products of the robot exhibition this year, robots can not only do big, heavy, bitter activities, but also cooperate with people and are developing towards lightness, compactness and security.
The information and telecommunication technology exhibition will be located in Hall 7.2. The exhibition will focus on the Industrial Internet this year. It will attract leading domestic and international companies in the fields of Industrial Internet, Internet of Things and telecommunication. The exhibition will showcase the most innovative technologies from cutting-edge industries, industry information system solutions, intelligent manufacturing products and cases, integrated solutions of intelligent manufacturing. The exhibition will attract leading companies including ARM, Dassault Systemes, Intel, Hitachi. Domestic companies including Huawei, Shenyang Machine Tool Group Co Ltd, Inspur group, Lenovo, China Telecom and other industry giants are expected to bring latest Industrial Internet application platform to compete with foreign enterprises.
The science and technology innovation exhibition will be located in three exhibition areas in Hall 6.2, 7.2 and 8.2. In Hall 6.2, there will be an exhibition area for the Shanghai Science and Technology Committee, universities and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In Hall 7.2, exhibition of space industry and application of Beidou Satellite Navigation will be showcased, in order to display China’s latest navigation technology application and achievement of space industry. New material industry exhibition will be located in Hall 8.2. The exhibition will bring together global materials leading companies, focus on the application and showcase the achievements in the advanced manufacturing sector in order to establish a new platform for new material industry application globally. In Hall 8.2 there is also a project exhibition of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
